Friends of the Depot was organized in 1990. It is a
very active, non-profit, all-volunteer group which
has assumed the responsibility of preserving,
restoring, renovating and maintaining the depot as
well as promoting this historic landmark as a
tourist attraction. Though great accomplishments
have been achieved, this is still "a work in
progress" and requires continued improvements and
maintenance.
Rental Information On Historic Newton Station
Depot
The "warehouse" area of the depot is available for
receptions, reunions, anniversary parties, etc.
Rental cost is $150.00. A $100.00 deposit is
required at time of reservation and the $50.00
balance must be paid in full at least ten days prior
to the event. The Depot is fully air-conditioned or
heated as needed. Use of table and chairs is
included. Alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed on the
premises. Smoking is NOT allowed on the premises.
La-Z-Boy Park, Coffee Shop, and Board Room are also
available for Rental. Further information can be
obtained from the Chamber of Commerce.
Membership Information
Membership is a very modest $10.00 per person per
year. (Fortunately, larger contributions are made by
a number of individuals and companies. Fundraising
events are also held.) Meetings are held at 5:00
p.m. at the depot on the first Tuesday of each
month. Everyone is invited to attend. You need not
be a member.
